AF AJWAD (AE) - (T O'Shea): Lay right under pressure in the straight. JAP AL YAASOOB (AE) - (B Doyle): Shifted inwards under pressure in the early part of the straight. KHAFEEF AL WATHBA (AE) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. Knuckled and became unbalanced near the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be mildly lame in the left hind-leg. MAALY AL REEF (AE) - (C Beasley): Lay left rounding the bend. SALLAL AL REEF (AE) - (G Avranche): Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. AL YAMAMAH MLEEH (AE) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly and then had to be steadied off heels. MARWA W'RSAN (AE) - (B Curtis): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. SAHIBA ALAWDA (AE) - (R Ffrench): Slow to begin. ZAHRET AL MARAS (AE) - (C Gnesi): On jumping bumped on several occasions with another runner. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for KHAFEEF AL WATHBA (AE)(R Mullen) knuckling and becoming unbalanced near the 400 metres. On evidence and available footage it was established that near the 400 metres KHAFEEF AL WATHBA (AE), which had commenced to weaken, was taken outwards by SALLAL AL REEF (AE)(G Avranche), behind JAP AL YAASOOB (AE)(B Doyle), which shifted inwards marginally at this stage. Stewards noted the evidence tendered by R Mullen, that his colt did not clip heels, rather knuckled unexpectedly when weakening. Accordingly the incident was reported, however all riders were advised to exercise move care in a similar situation. Jockey G Avranche (SALLAL AL REEF (AE)) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(iii) for failing to ride his mount fully out to the end of the race. G Avranche was subsequently fined AED 500. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that SALLAL AL REEF (AE) had finished 2nd in the race, that his actions did not affect the result of the race and that G Avranche acknowledged he had mistaken the winning post.
