LANSKY (IRE) - (R Ffrench): Near the 350 metres had to be restrained when tightened for room by another runner. SWITZERLAND (USA) - (M Barzalona): Commenced awkwardly. COMICAS (USA) - (W Buick): Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. LAVASPIN (GB) - (R Mullen): Bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start bumped on the hind-quarters by another runner. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider reported that LAVASPIN (GB) travelled well although when placed under pressure the gelding felt amiss and gave ground quickly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be suffering from cardiac arrthymia. Trainer Mr S Seemar was notified that prior to the gelding entering to race again it must perform a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA veterinary officer and lodge a veterinary report stating that LAVASPIN (GB) is displaying a normal ECG after the gallop. The official gallop may only be performed fourteen (14) days after the event. THAMMIN (GB) - (J Crowley): Held up for clear running from the 400 metres until passing the 300 metres. Momentarily carried in by another runner passing the 300 metres. On return to scale the rider advised that the gelding hung left throughout and resented the kickback. MY CATCH (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. DRAFTED (USA) - (P Dobbs): Bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start crowded for room between runners. Raced wide without cover throughout. I KIRK (SWE) - (C Lopez): Over-raced in the early stages. TATO KEY (ARG) - (S Foley): Raced wide without cover throughout. General: Jockey S Foley (TATO KEY (ARG)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount forward of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand. Stewards took into account that this was S Foley’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Stewards inquired into the reason for LANSKY (IRE)(R Ffrench) being tightened for room and having to be restrained near the 350 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 350 metres LAVASPIN (GB)(R Mullen) commenced to weaken resulting in THAMMIN (GB)(J Crowley), which was racing behind LAVASPIN (GB) and hanging left, having to shift inwards when awkwardly placed on that gelding’s heels. As a result of THAMMIN (GB) having to shift inwards, LANSKY (IRE), which was racing to the inside of THAMMIN (GB), was tightened for room and had to be restrained. Stewards noted that THAMMIN (GB) had no other option but to shift inwards away from heels of the weakening LAVASPIN (GB), which resulted in this interference, and as such, no action was taken against any one rider other than to advise them to exercise more care in a similar situation.

TONE BROKE (CAN) - (M Barzalona): Near the 1700 metres had to be checked when tightened for room by another runner. Hung right in the middle stages. On return to scale the rider advised that the colt failed to travel throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SHANTY STAR (USA) - (B Pinheiro): Knuckled severely on jumping becoming extremely unbalanced. DIVINE IMAGE (USA) - (B Doyle): Commenced awkwardly. Near the 1700 metres carried in when tightened for room by another runner. THE SONG OF JOHN (USA) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. MOSHAHER (USA) - (P Dobbs): Slow to begin. Near the 1700 metres hampered by another runner before shifting out. AL HAYETTE (USA) - (F Veron): Bumped on jumping. FINTAS (GB) - (S Kelly): Commenced awkwardly shifted in and bumped another runner. Raced keen in the early stages. GRECKO (ARG) - (L Dettori): Raced wide without cover. RED CACTUS (USA) - (E Chaves): Slow to begin. MANGUZI (FR) - (F Jara): Raced fore-wide without cover throughout. ESTIHDAAF (USA) - (P Cosgrave): Commenced awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider explained that ESTIHDAAF (USA) was disappointing and never travelled well when racing wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. TABARAK (USA) - (A de Vries): Near the 200 metres momentarily inconvenienced by another runner. General: Jockey C Beasley (SUPERIOR (USA)) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars of the charge being that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DIVINE IMAGE (USA)(B Doyle), which was tightening inwards resulting in TONE BROKE (CAN)(M Barzalona) being tightened for room and having to be checked. C Beasley had his license to ride in races suspended for two race meetings (Jebel Ali 22.3.2019 and Meydan 30.3.2019). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account C Beasley’s good careless riding, the interference suffered to TONE BROKE (CAN) and that he will be suspended for the Dubai World Cup meeting.

EKHTIYAAR (GB) - (J Crowley): Slow to begin. Inclined to lay right when placed under pressure. HIT THE BID (GB) - (C Hayes): Commenced awkwardly. Inclined to lay left from the 450 metres. GIFTED MASTER (IRE) - (J Doyle): Near the 450 metres steadied and became unbalanced when tightened for room between runners. Lost its right fore-plate during the race. AJWAD (GB) - (B Pinheiro): Inclined to lay right from the 600 metres. Near the 600 metres shifted out and bumped another runner. MAZZINI (GB) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. HIGH ON LIFE (GB) - (M Barzalona): Bumped by another runner near the 600 metres. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for GIFTED MASTER (IRE)(J Doyle) being steadied and becoming unbalanced approaching the 400 metres. On the evidence and the available footage it was established that approaching the 400 metres GIFTED MASTER (IRE), which was under pressure was tightened for room between EKHTIYAAR (GB)(J Crowley), which shifted out when laying right and HIT THE BID (GB)(C Hayes), which at this point shifted in when laying left. In taking no action, Stewards noted that both EKHTIYAAR (GB) and HIT THE BID (GB) had shifted ground marginally before being corrected by their riders and as such advise all riders to exercise care when in similar circumstances.

Stewards' Reports for Jebel Hatta Sponsored By Emirates Airline
MAJESTIC MAMBO (SAF) - (B Fayd'Herbe): Approaching the winning post momentarily held up for clear running. FIRST CONTACT (IRE) - (M Barzalona): After kicking the running rail when proceeding to the track, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was suitable to race. CENTURY DREAM (IRE) - (O Murphy): Over-raced in the early and middle stages. WOOTTON (FR) - (W Buick): Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. FOREST RANGER (IRE) - (T Hamilton): Commenced awkwardly. BLAIR HOUSE (IRE) - (B Doyle): Commenced extremely awkwardly and lost ground before failing to muster speed in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider reported that BLAIR HOUSE (IRE) hung left when under pressure and that approaching the 100 metres the gelding felt uncomfortable in its action, therefore he elected to ease his mount down. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr C Appleby was advised that the gelding must complete a stalls test prior to entering to race again.
