When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider explained that HUCKLEBUCK (USA) traveled well but when placed under pressure commenced to give ground quickly and hang left. KILLDEER (IRE) - (S Mazur): Slow to begin. KING'S SHADOW (USA) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly. Reluctant to stride out in the early stages despite the efforts of its rider. Approaching the 800 metres had to be eased when placed close to the heels of other runners. Held up for clear running from the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, the rider explained that he was instructed to lead on KING'S SHADOW (USA), however after being slow to begin the gelding failed to respond to his riding in the early stages and he settled at the rear of the field. He added that rounding the home turn he was held up for clear running and shortly after straightening, due to KING'S SHADOW (USA) laying inwards, he attempted a run to the inside of ALSHAHHAD (IRE). T O’Shea further explained that he was mindful that the gelding performs well when not racing amongst other horses and therefore passing the 300 metres shifted outwards, where KING'S SHADOW (USA) ran on fairly. Stewards noted T O’Shea’s comments WINGS OF GOLD (IRE) - (F Jara): Raced wide without cover throughout. YAJOOLL (GB) - (O Doleuze): On return to scale the rider advised that the colt hung right severely in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider explained that the GUNDOGDU (USA) was unable to obtain a forward position in the early stages. He added that the gelding raced tired throughout, however appeared sound in its action on pulling up. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, Trainer Mr S bin Ghadayer explained that GUNDOGDU (USA) is a horse that needs to lead to perform at its best and was unable to do so due to not breaking from the barriers well. He added that it was his intention to give the horse a break from racing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SECRET TRADE (IRE) - (O Doleuze): Slow to begin before being bumped by another runner. Near the 800 metres bumped by another runner becoming unbalanced. When questioned regarding if he rode SECRET TRADE (IRE) out to the end of the race, the rider explained that the gelding was under pressure throughout the whole race, making good ground during the middle stages and over the concluding stages commenced to tire. He added that due to riding the gelding throughout the race, his vigor over the concluding stages weakened, however he persisted to ride SECRET TRADE (IRE) out hands and heels to the end of the race. Noting the official margin of one (1) length, Stewards were satisfied that O Doleuze’s actions did not affect the results of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. TRADESMAN (USA) - (P Dobbs): Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Near the 400 metres shifted in and bumped another runner. KUNANI (USA) - (E Chaves): Commenced awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner. LITIGATION (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Placed in restricted room on jumping between runners, both of which shifted ground. Near the 400 metres bumped by another runner. GLORIOUS POET (GB) - (X Ziani): Commenced awkwardly losing ground. MEARS (USA) - (F Jara): Bumped on jumping. GLOBALIST (GER) - (S Mazur): Raced wide without cover throughout.
