The start of the race was delayed by approximately 5 minutes due to MH WARI (AE) having to be re-saddled, and waiting for tractors completing remedial works on the track, being removed. EXPRESS AL REEF (AE) - (A McLean): Having not started for 769 days, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start. Reared on several occasions in the barrier prior to the start. Trainer Mr M Al Shamsi was advised that prior to entering the horse to race again, it must complete two satisfactory stalls test. MH WARI (AE) - (A Fresu): Saddle had to be re-adjusted on arrival at the barriers. As the start was affected the horse became fractious getting its head over the left barrier partition and as a result lost considerable ground (10 lengths). Trainer Ms E Jeanne was advised that prior to entering the horse to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. AL JEBEL W'RSAN (AE) - (G Buckell): On return to scale the rider reported that the colt failed to travel throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. BADEEA AL REEF (AE) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. DAS ELZUMORODEH (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. SEEHAMM AL LEELL (AE) - (B Pinheiro): Shortly after the start had to be steadied when placed close to the heels of another runner. General: Jockey F Veron (AF BARARI (AE)) was fined AED 1000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides. Stewards took into account that this was F Veron’s second breach of this Rule for the season. Jockey A de Vries (AF AL MOTAMEN (AE)) was fined AED 1000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 100(ii) in that during the running of the race he directed sustained abusive language towards another rider.

KASHEF (AE) - (J Grzybowska): Having not started for 1462 days, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. General: Trainer Mr Y Al Kalbani (PRADO DU PANJSHIR (FR)) was fined AED 250 under the provisions of ERA Rule 28(iii) for use of the ERA colours. Stewards inquired into the reason for KENAAN (AE)(G Buckell) being checked approaching the 1100 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that KENAAN (AE) had to be checked off the heels of JAHIRO (FR)(E Chaves) after initially being carried out by PRADO DU PANJSHIR (FR)(S Mazur) which in turn had shifted out and away from KAFIL W'RSAN (AE)(R Powell) which had shifted out when hanging out. As Stewards could not be satisfied that the interference could be attributed to any one rider they took no further action against any one rider other than to advise all riders to exercise care in similar circumstances.

Trailed the field throughout. Eased out of the race from the 2000 metres. RB GRYNADE (US) - (F Veron): Commenced awkwardly. SNAFFY (FR) - (R Ffrench): Slow to begin. On return to scale the rider reported that he eased the gelding down from the 1000 metres as the gelding was no longer competitive and appeared distressed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be fatigued. General: Apprentice J Grzybowska (MUKARAM (AE)) was fined AED 1000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that she used it on 20 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was J Grzybowska’s first breach of this Rule for the season however noted the nature of the breach.
