Correct weight was delayed to enable the Stewards to view the official photo finish. On viewing the photo finish neither the Judge nor the Stewards could find a margin for the 3rd Place and therefore declared a dead heat. SALTARIN DUBAI (ARG) - (R Mullen): Brushed on jumping. Lay inwards over the final 150 metres. Close to the finish the rider was accidently struck on the left arm by the whip of another rider. MONTSARRAT (IRE) - (M Barzalona): Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn. TRIED AND TRUE (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Brushed on jumping. ABOVE NORMAL (GB) - (T O'Shea): Raced wide without cover throughout. DUBAI ICON (GB) - (R Scott): Stumbled on jumping and lost ground. GRAND ARGENTIER (FR) - (B Doyle): Commenced awkwardly getting its head up. Had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight. Near the 400 metres bumped another runner. Close to the finish the rider accidently struck the left arm of another rider with his whip. SENDEED (IRE) - (A Fresu): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be mildly lame in the left fore-leg. General: Jockey B Doyle (GRAND ARGENTIER (FR)) was fined AED 1000 under the provision of ERA Rule 65(ii) for weighing in more than 0.5kg above the weight declared. Jockey B Doyle (GRAND ARGENTIER (FR)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount forward of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand, in that he used it on 2 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Further, B Doyle (GRAND ARGENTIER (FR)) was fined AED 3000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s second breach of this Rule for the season and that he exceeded the allowable limit by 1 strike. Further, B Doyle (GRAND ARGENTIER (FR)) was suspended, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides, in that he used it on 8 occasions. B Doyle had his license to ride in races suspended for two race-meetings (Abu Dhabi 12.01.2020 and Meydan 16.01.2020). In assessing the penalty Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s third breach of this Rule for the season and the excessive amount that he breached the Rule. In address all three breaches, Stewards also noted that GRAND ARGENTIER (FR) won the race by a small margin. Jockey R Mullen (SALTARIN DUBAI (ARG)) was fined AED 2000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 17 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was R Mullen’s first breach of this Rule for the season, however he exceeded the allowable limit by 5 strikes. Jockey M Barzalona (MONTSARRAT (IRE)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount forward of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand.
