When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the mare, the rider explained that AATEBAT AL KHALEDIAH (SA) travelled well throughout however, failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. He added that the mare is better suited to races over a further distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH that may have affected the gelding’s performance. SECRET AMBITION (GB) - (T O'Shea): Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. RODAINI (USA) - (C Beasley): Commenced awkwardly and then shortly after bumped with another runner. NORTH AMERICA (GB) - (R Mullen): Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a small sole wound to its left fore-leg. General: Jockey P Dobbs (KIMBEAR (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand.
