Steadied near the 1000 metres when tightened for room. In the early part of straight was held up for a clear run. A routine post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for VARSHA (GB)(T O'Shea) having to be steadied near the 1000 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 1000 metres, OKTALGANO (USA)(N Garbutt) shifted in when racing ungenerously, resulting in VARSHA (GB) having to be steadied when tightened for room. Stewards advised Jockey N Garbutt to exercise more care in a similar situation.

BARWOD (GB) - (S Hitchcott): Approaching the 2000 metres was eased out of the race. The rider advised that in his opinion approaching the 2000 metres BARWOD (GB) went amiss behind and for this reason he eased the horse out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be mildly lame in the right hind-leg. CELESTIAL SPHERES (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin. RUA AUGUSTA (USA) - (F Jara): Lay inwards over the concluding stages. KING'S SHADOW (USA) - (M Nicholls): Commenced awkwardly striking the outside of its barrier. SILKEN DANCER (GB) - (S Paiva): Near the 800 metres commenced to weaken and had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. BOWDITCH (IRE) - (B Pinheiro): Raced wide without cover throughout. On return to scale the rider advised that the saddle shifted backwards approaching the 1000 metres. TRAIN TO GEORGIA (USA) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. General: Jockey B Doyle (HARD TASKMASTER (IRE)) was fined AED 4000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s third breach of this Rule for the season, he exceeded the allowable limit by 1 strike and that he won the race.
