AL MODAYAR (USA) - (F Jara): On jumping was brushed by another runner. Passing the wining post on the first occasion had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. LASER SHOW (IRE) - (C Soumillon): Shortly after the start bumped by another runner. SADEEDD (USA) - (J Crowley): Commenced awkwardly. Shortly after the start was tightened for room and bumped another runner. Commenced to weaken from the 1000 metres. On return to scale the rider reported that the SADEEDD (USA) resented the kickback throughout the race. GREY FLASH (USA) - (C Lopez): On jumping shifted inwards quickly and bumped another runner. Near the 1500 metres lay out and hampered another runner. DARK OF NIGHT (IRE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. DUBAI LOVE (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Slow into stride. SPIRIT OF LIGHT (IRE) - (F Veron): Near the 1200 metres had to be steadied when racing in restricted room. EMBLEM STORM (USA) - (O Murphy): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. ZABARDAST (USA) - (M Barzalona): Shortly after the start was tightened for room between other runners. Near the 1500 metres hampered by another runner. Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. LIAM'S LEGEND (USA) - (P Dobbs): Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover from the 1400 metres. YA HAYATI (USA) - (W Buick): When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider explained that YA HAYATI (USA) was having its first start on the dirt and may not have appreciated the kickback. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. TUZ (USA) - (T O'Shea): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. SANAD LIBYA (USA) - (C Beasley): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. General: Jockey C Soumillon (LASER SHOW (IRE)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA 69(i) for careless riding, in that near the 1700 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of COMMANDING (IRE)(R Mullen), resulting in the colt having to be restrained. In assessing the penalty Stewards noted the racing manners of COMMANDING (IRE) prior to the incident. Stewards inquired into the reason for SPIRIT OF LIGHT (IRE)(F Veron) having to be steadied near the 1200 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 1200 metres DUBAI LOVE (GB)(P Cosgrave) shifted outwards marginally and TUZ (USA)(T O'Shea) shifted inwards marginally, resulting in SPIRIT OF LIGHT (IRE) being tightened for room having to be steadied. As Stewards could not attribute the interference to any one rider and deemed the interference to be in the low-range, all riders were advised to exercise more care in a similar situation.

In assessing penalty Stewards took into account H Bentley‘s good careless riding record, his guilty plea and deemed the carelessness to be in the low-range, however that the interference resulted in a fall. Jockey A Atzeni was examined by the Clubs’ Medical Officer and was passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
