SHAREQ AL KHALEDIAH (SA) - (N Al Anazi): When leaving the parade ring the horse became fractious, unseating its rider and struck the running rail. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, Trainer Mr C Gourdain advised that AL SHAMOOS (FR) had travelled extensively since winning the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown last year and this has affected her overall condition leading into today’s event. He further added that he will speak to the connections in relation to retiring the mare from racing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Jockey N Al Anazi (SHAREQ AL KHALEDIAH (SA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(ii) for using the whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Stewards took into account that this was N Al Anazi’s first breach of this Rule for the season.
