AF HASHEEMA (AE) - (S Kirrane): Late withdrawal by the Stewards at 4.30pm due to non-arrival. JAD AL MELS (FR) - (S Mazur): Commenced awkwardly. WILL POWER (US) - (P Cosgrave): Shortly after the start stumbled. OMANIA (GB) - (S Al Balushi): Shifted out on jumping and bumped heavily with another runner. General: Trainer Mr Y bin Ghilan advised the Stewards that his horsebox had broken down and as a result his runners may be delayed. Subsequently AF HASHEEMA (AE) failed to arrive on course at the required time. Stewards noted the explanation and no action was taken. Stewards inquired into the reason for BADAR (FR)(A McLean) having to be restrained approaching the 1300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 1300 metres OMANIA (GB)(S Al Balushi), shifted out marginally when bumped on the hind-quarter by BADAR (FR), who had a tendency to lay inwards, resulting in OMANIA (GB) shifting outwards further and BADAR (FR) being bumped and having to be restrained. Stewards noted the racing manners of OMANIA (GB) and the bump on the hind-quarters to BADAR (FR), however advised Apprentice S Al Balushi to exercise more care in a similar situation.

RANIAH (QA) - (A Fresu): Bumped shortly after the start. AF MOUTHIRAH (AE) - (T O'Shea): Over-raced in the early stages. Weakened from the 200 metres. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare, the rider stated AF MOUTHIRAH (AE) over-raced in the early stages and then when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding, racing flat. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ARJAN (FR) - (F Veron): Commenced awkwardly and shifted in bumping heavily with another runner. AZIZA XMANSOR (FR) - (S Al Balushi): Slow to begin. MAGIC NUMBER (US) - (P Cosgrave): Fractious in the barrier prior to a start. WALL STREET WATCH (US) - (E Chaves): As the start was affected the mare dipped its head and commenced extremely awkwardly, dislodged its rider. Trainer Mr A Al Hammadi was advised that prior to entering the mare to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. SADAH (AE) - (J Rosales): Commenced awkwardly and struck the outside of its barrier. TURFA W'RSAN (AE) - (R Ffrench): Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Trainer Ms. J Wickham that the gelding was lame in the right hind-leg, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of TURFA W'RSAN (AE) at 2:30pm. Trainer Ms. J Wickham was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again she must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for TURFA W'RSAN (AE). General: After being dislodged from his mount at the start of the race, jockey E Chaves underwent a medical examination by the Club’s Medical Officer and was deemed unfit to fulfil his remaining engagement. E Chaves was transported to the regional hospital for further assessment.

MUJEEB (GB) - (S Paiva): Near the 100 metres was taken out of its course by another runner. JUTHOOR (IRE) - (F Veron): Had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the early part of the straight. Near the 100 metres was taken off its course by another runner. BURJ (GB) - (P Dobbs): Near the 100 metres was taken out of its course by another runner. GALESBURG (IRE) - (A Fresu): Raced greenly in the early stages. HARBOUR SPIRIT (FR) - (R Tart): Bumped on then inconvenienced when another runner shifted outwards. From the 200 metres shifted out under pressure. KING'S SHADOW (USA) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. SUGAR BOY (GER) - (S Mazur): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have blood in one nostril. Trainer Mr Q Aboud was advised that prior to the gelding being entered to race again, SUGAR BOY (GER) must complete a suitability examination conducted by the ERA Veterinarian. DAFFG (USA) - (A de Vries): Shifted outwards abruptly on jumping. Approaching the 100 metres was held up and had to shift outwards to obtain a clear run. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for TROLIUS (IRE)(P Cosgrave) having to be checked near the 1200 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 1200 metres TROLIUS (IRE), which was racing ungenerously and attempting to shift in to obtain cover, became awkwardly placed on the heels of MUJEEB (GB)(S Paiva), which shifted out marginally. As a result TROLIUS (IRE) had to be checked and shift outwards. Stewards advised P Cosgrave to exercise more care in a similar situation.

General: Jockey A M Al Balushi (BOLEREAU (FR)) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars of the charge being that approaching the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NOOF KB (FR)(A de Vries), resulting in that mare having to be checked. Jockey A M Al Balushi had his license to ride in races suspended for three race meetings (Meydan 30.01.2020, Al Ain 31.01.2020 and Meydan 01.02.2020). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account A M Al Balushi‘s good careless riding record and guilty plea.

On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 300 metres KALBAHAR CS (US)(A Fresu) shifted out when hanging out, bumping and taking FARRAR (AE) wider on the track. FAHADD (FR) which was racing to the outside and behind FARRAR (AE), became awkwardly placed on that horses heels, having to restrain and shifted outwards onto AF MAFATEN (AE), which had to be checked. Stewards noted the racing manners of KALBAHAR CS (US), however advised A Fresu that he must do his upmost at all times to prevent his mount from shifting ground, even when they are hanging. Apprentice A Kirrane (ELSA DU BIBAL (FR)) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground, in that he allowed ELSA DU BIBAL (FR) to shift out under pressure for the majority of the straight.
