Other Comments / Explanations: Subsequent to the release of declarations on Tuesday 28 January, for the Abu Dhabi race meeting on Sunday 2 February 2020, the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) established that the race field for Race 2 “Wathba Stallions Cup For Private Owners Only” Handicap 1400 metres was incorrect. AF AL ASEF (AE) was listed as fourth reserve instead of being in the race field and AF TEBYAN (AE) was in the race field instead of being fourth reserve. A subsequent investigation revealed that the balloting process, conducted under the supervision of ERA Stewards, had allocated the correct racing status to each acceptor, however a clerical error made during the inputting stage of declarations meant that the two horses involved had taken each other’s position in the race field. Using their powers under the Rules of Racing, the ERA amended the race fields and released the original, correct field as determined by the Stewards during the balloting process. The ERA will undertake an internal review of how the inputting of the final declared field can be reviewed, prior to release to the general public. JINJAL (US) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. AF SULTAN (AE) - (T O'Shea): Bumped on jumping. AS HAJEZ (AE) - (A McLean): Slow to begin. DABER W'RSAN (AE) - (C Beasley): Commenced awkwardly. FALT (AE) - (S Paiva): When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, the rider advised that shortly after the start he felt that something may be amiss and for this reason he eased FALT (AE) out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. SS LAMEA (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Commenced awkwardly and shifted ground inwards. WAKEEL W'RSAN (AE) - (N Garbutt): Raced wide without cover in the early stages. Raced ungenerously in the straight. JABER AL BADR (TN) - (I Maghraoui): Inconvenienced shortly after the start. AF HASHEEMA (AE) - (B Pinheiro): Slow into stride. FAKHR AL AALAM (AE) - (Y Ben Djekidel): Commenced awkwardly striking the barrier and losing ground. ABLE (FR) - (R Ffrench): On return to scale the rider advised that the filly felt amiss on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the left fore-leg. Trainer Mr. A Al Hammadi was advised that prior to the filly being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for ABLE (FR).

Stewards' Reports for Muroor
On return to scale, an objection was lodged by Jockey H Bentley (SOMOUD (FR) (2nd Place)) against AF MOMTAZ (AE)(A Fresu)(Winner) alleging interference over the concluding stages. After viewing the available video footage and taking evidence from both riders and Ms. M Ritchie, the Assistant Trainer of Mr. M Al Mheiri (AF MOMTAZ (AE)), it was established that over the concluding stages AF MOMTAZ (AE) shifted out taking SOMOUD (FR) out slightly off its course. In the opinion of the Stewards, the interference suffered to SOMOUD (FR) by AF MOMTAZ (AE) was too close to the winning post and considering the winning margin of a neck, the Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference not occurred, SOMOUD (FR) would have beaten AF MOMTAZ (AE). As such the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared. AF SANAD (AE) - (S Kirrane): On jumping bumped by another runner. MUNBAHER (FR) - (J Crowley): Commenced awkwardly. BRRAQ (FR) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. QADER (FR) - (X Ziani): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. OFFICER (US) - (B Doyle): Slow to begin. AF TARAHA (AE) - (S Kirrane): Shifted out on jumping JAWAL AL REEF (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Slow into stride. MORJANAH AL REEF (AE) - (B Doyle): Near the 250 metres raced in restricted room for a short distance. Raced ungenerously in the straight. INTHAR (AE) - (B Pinheiro): Commenced awkwardly. SAFIN AL REEF (AE) - (C Beasley): Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner. AF AL MONTAQEM (AE) - (A Fresu): Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Shifted ground inwards under pressure near the 250 metres and then outwards near the 200 metres when being straightened. Restrained off heels near the winning post. AF KAFU (AE) - (T O'Shea): Held for clear running from the home turn until the early part of the straight. EZZ AL RAWASI (AE) - (S Paiva): Commenced awkwardly and shortly after was tightened for room, losing ground. Raced wide without cover throughout. MAKTOOB (AE) - (F Veron): Bumped on jumping. Lay outwards rounding the turn near the 1700 metres. AF AL MEHLEB (AE) - (R Ffrench): Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide without cover throughout. BLUE DIAMOND (AE) - (J Rosales): Hung out leaving the straight on the first occasion. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for AF AL MEHLEB (AE)(R Ffrench) being tightened for room near the 200 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 200 metres AF TARAHA (AE)(S Kirrane) shifted inwards and tightened AF AL MEHLEB (AE) onto AF AL MONTAQEM (AE)(A Fresu), which was shifting outwards to relieve pressure to MORJANAH AL REEF (AE)(B Doyle). As a result AF AL MEHLEB (AE) was tightened for room and had to be restrained. Steward advised Jockey A Fresu to exercise more care in a similar situation and Apprentice S Kirrane was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA 69(i) for careless riding. Jockey B Doyle (MORJANAH AL REEF (AE)) pled guilty to a charge under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii), for using his whip in consecutive strides, in that he used it on 4 consecutive strides without giving his mount a chance to respond. B Doyle had his license to ride in races suspended for three race-meetings (Meydan 13.01.2020, Al Ain 14.02.2020 and Sharjah 15.02.2020). In assessing the penalty Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s fourth breach of this Rule for the season, the excessive amount that he breached the Rule by and that he won the race. Further, B Doyle (MORJANAH AL REEF (AE)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the winning post he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of AF AL MONTAQEM (AE)(A Fresu), resulting in the horse having to be restrained. Jockey B Doyle had his license to ride in races suspended for three race-meetings (Abu Dhabi 16.02.2020, Meydan 20.02.2020 and Jebel Ali 21.02.2020). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account B Doyle‘s guilty plea, good careless riding record, the racing manners of his horse and deemed the carelessness to be in the low range.

Stewards' Reports for Al Bateen
RECORDMAN (GB) - (R Mullen): After arriving on course, was extremely fractious in the stabling area and as a result underwent a veterinary examination, being deemed unsuitable to race due to lameness in the left hind-leg. Acting on this advice, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of RECORDMAN (GB) at 6:50pm. Trainer Mr. S Seemar was advised that prior to the gelding being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for RECORDMAN (GB). HOLD SWAY (IRE) - (C Beasley): Commenced awkwardly and shifted out. WELSH LORD (GB) - (A Fresu): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, the rider explained that he was instructed to lead, however after urging WELSH LORD (GB) along in the early stages the gelding was challenged in front by SKYGAZER (IRE). He added that after accepting that he won’t lead the event, he attempted to restrain WELSH LORD (GB) but was unable to do so as the gelding was over-racing. Further, due to over-racing and urging his mount along in the early stages WELSH LORD (GB) failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure rounding the home turn. GANTIER (GB) - (P Cosgrave): Rounding the home turn had to be checked off heels and shift outwards bumping heavily with another runner. EMIRATES EMPIRE (IRE) - (R Ffrench): Severely checked when tightened for room rounding the home turn. CELESTIAL SPHERES (IRE) - (F Veron): Carried outwards by another runner shortly after the start. Bumped heavily by another runner rounding the home turn. JUTHOOR (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin. QUARTIER FRANCAIS (USA) - (F Jara): Raced wide without cover throughout. RUA AUGUSTA (USA) - (H Bentley): Slow to begin. Tightened for room and carried inwards rounding the home turn. TRAIN TO GEORGIA (USA) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. Near the 200 metres shifted out under pressure, before being straightened by its rider. Tightened for room and had to be checked rounding the home turn. General: Jockey F Jara (QUARTIER FRANCAIS (USA)) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the careless riding being that rounding the home turn he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TRAIN TO GEORGIA (USA)(T O'Shea), which was tightened for room, had to be checked and shifted inwards onto RUA AUGUSTA (USA)(H Bentley), that was tightened for room and carried inwards onto EMIRATES EMPIRE (IRE)(R Ffrench), which had to be severely checked. GANTIER (GB)(P Cosgrave) which was following TRAIN TO GEORGIA (USA) had to be severely checked off that gelding’s heels and shift outward bumping heavily with CELESTIAL SPHERES (IRE)(F Veron). F Jara had his license to ride in races suspended for four race-meetings (Meydan 13.01.2020, Al Ain 14.02.2020, Sharjah 15.02.2020 and Abu Dhabi 16.02.2020). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account F Jara‘s good careless riding record and although the interference was high, his shift and carelessness was in the low range.
