ES AL ASEEL NIGMAH (AE) - (E Chaves): On jumping bumped and was severely hampered by another runner, losing ground as a result. JAP ARSAS (AE) - (S Kirrane): On jumping shifted out and made contact with another runner, knucked and losing ground. NESR AL REEF (AE) - (P Cosgrave): Began awkwardly and lost ground. WATHIQ AL REEF (AE) - (B Doyle): Lay out under pressure in the straight. ZED AL RIH (AE) - (N Garbutt): Slow into stride, lost ground and trailed the field throughout. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding throughout the race, the rider explained that he was instructed to race in a forward position, however ZED AL RIH (AE) was slow to begin and therefore he was unable to lead. He added, that he did not urge the gelding along in the early stages when becoming detached from the field, as he anticipated that ZED AL RIH (AE) would improve into the race, however within a short distance he realized that the gelding would be uncompetitive throughout. Stewards noted his comments. General: Jockey B Doyle (ZED AL RIH (AE)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides. In assessing the penalty Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Further, B Doyle (ZED AL RIH (AE)) was fined AED 1000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 15 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was B Doyle’s first breach of this Rule for the season and that he exceeded the allowable limit by 3 strikes.

UNTOLD SECRET (GB) - (S Paiva): On jumping bumped by another runner and hampered. CHINGACHGOOK (GB) - (F Jara): On jumping bumped another runner. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MUDALLEL (IRE)(C Beasley) being tightened for room and having to be steadied shortly after straightening. On the evidence and available footage it was established that on straightening, approaching the 200 metres, MUDALLEL (IRE) was tightened for room by BIG BROWN BEAR (USA)(P Dobbs), which shifted outwards when bumped on the hind-quarter and TRADESMAN (USA)(P Cosgrave), which shifted inwards, resulting in MUDALLEL (IRE) having to be steadied. Stewards noted the evidence tendered by the riders and took into account that the majority of the tightening occurred due to the shift inwards by TRADESMAN (USA), however P Cograve the rider of TRADESMAN (USA) immediately straightened his mount in an attempt to prevent the incident. As such no action was taken other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation.
