BAALBEK (USA) - (R Curatolo): Commenced awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 200 metres. BLADESMITH (IRE) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. KING LOTHBROK (FR) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. KINGDOM OF DUBAI (FR) - (C Beasley): On jumping was bumped by another runner. LEADERSHIP (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start and attempted to burrow under the front of the barrier. After being removed from the barrier underwent a veterinary examination and was deemed unsuitable to race. Acting on veterinary advice, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of LEADERSHIP (IRE) at 2:31pm. A follow up veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however to have abrasions to the near side neck and right fore-leg. Trainer Mr S Seemar was advised that prior to entering the gelding to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. MA YAHAB (USA) - (X Ziani): Commenced awkwardly. MASAALI (USA) - (P Dobbs): Slow to begin.

LADY PARMA (USA) - (R Mullen): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the filly, the rider advised that LADY PARMA (USA) sweated up prior to the race which may have affected the filly’s ability to finish off when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. He further added, LADY PARMA (USA) will take benefit from having its first start of the season. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. RAAFID (GB) - (C Beasley): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Approaching the 400 metres had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of another runner. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that prior to entering the gelding to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. FRANZ SCHUBERT (GB) - (B Pinheiro): Slow to begin. HELLO (IRE) - (C Beasley): On jumping was bumped on the hind-quarter by another runner. CRANESBILL (USA) - (F Veron): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. EAST ASIA (IRE) - (T O'Shea): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. MIRACLE MAKER (USA) - (X Ziani): Lay outward making the turn near the 1200 metres. RATIO (USA) - (F Jara): Knuckled on jumping. General: Stewards questioned the tactics adopted on MIRACLE MAKER (USA)(X Ziani) and SKYGAZER (IRE)(S Paiva) in the early and middle stages of the race when both runners led the field by a significant margin at a fast tempo. S Paiva explained that he was instructed to lead the race and that SKYGAZER (IRE) never performs well when racing behind other horses. He further added that he realized that he and MIRACLE MAKER (USA) had led the field by a significant margin and had gone too quick in the early and middle stages. X Ziani explained that he was also instructed to lead the race. He added that he recognized that they had been racing too quick in the early stages and approaching the 1200 metres didn’t want to restrain behind SKYGAZER (IRE), as he was racing to the inside of the gelding’s heels prior to entering a tight turn, where most horses usually lay outwards. Stewards noted both riders comments, however advised them both that in a similar situation they should show more initiative and restrain their mounts earlier and not to lead the lead the field by such a significant margin, so as to give their mounts the chance to finish in the best possible position
