Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr E Oertel was notified that the horse would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA Stewards or veterinary officer. ASHTR (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Raced ungenerously in the early stages. JABAL AL REEF (AE) - (B Pinheiro): Lay out in the straight. TAQA (AE) - (I Al Balushi): Near the 1700 metres restrained when tightened for room. TOUMADHER (AE) - (R Mullen): Began awkwardly. ATAYEB (AE) - (R Curatolo): Slow to begin. AL BATEEN (AE) - (C Lecoeuvre): Began awkwardly and lost ground. MAHBOOB AL REEF (AE) - (S Mazur): Stood flat-footed and lost ground. MINWER (AE) - (A Fresu): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Saddle slipped when placed inside the barrier, was quickly re-saddled before being loaded again. General: Jockey R Curatolo was examined by the Club’s Medical Doctor and was deemed unsuitable to fulfil his engagement in Race 3. Stewards inquired into the reason for TAQA (AE)(I Al Balushi) having to restrain when tightened for room near the 1700 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 1700 metres AF GHARAD (AE)(S Al Balushi) shifted inwards and BISHARA AL REEF (AE)(F Jara) shifting outwards marginally tightening TAQA (AE) who was restrained. Stewards took into account the evidence and reported it as a racing incident.

The start of the race was delayed by approximately 5 minutes due to the Club’s Medical Doctor attending to Jockey R Curatolo from Race 2. Subsequent to the running of Race 2, Jockey R Curatolo was attended to by the Club’s Medical Doctor after suffering a respiratory complaint and stood down from Race 3. After a request from R Curatolo that he had recovered and wished to ride the remainder of his engagements, Stewards consulted the Club’s Doctor who advised that R Curatolo was now medically fit to ride however, he would be at a risk of suffering a repeat episode of the respiratory issue should he continue riding. Acting on the Doctor’s advice, Stewards permitted R Curatolo to fulfil his remaining engagements. JAAHIZ (FR) - (F Veron): Bumped on jumping. OPERA (US) - (G Avranche): Slow to begin.
