The start of the race was delayed by approximately 17 minutes due to the late withdrawal of WHAT A METAL (IRE). RAAKEZZ (USA) - (R Curatolo): Lay in under pressure near the 300 metres. WHAT A METAL (IRE) - (R Ffrench): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start and became cast. Acting on veterinary advice Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the colt at 3:31pm. WHAT A METAL (IRE) was transferred to the Dubai Equine Hospital for further assessment, where it was later diagnosed to have sustained severe head trauma, and as a result was humanely euthanized. EMBLEM SKY (USA) - (R Mullen): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. FAR SKY (USA) - (P Dobbs): On jumping bumped by another runner. LE FACTOR (USA) - (A Fresu): On jumping bumped by another runner, hampered and lost ground. MAJOR CINNAMON (USA) - (F Jara): Began awkwardly. MASS MEDIA (GB) - (T O'Shea): Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. FERIYAL (USA) - (S Paiva): Slow to begin. General: Jockey R Curatolo (RAAKEZZ (USA)) was fined AED 2000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides. In assessing the penalty, Stewards took into account that this was R Curatolo’s second breach of this Rule for the season.

Acting on veterinary advice, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the colt at 4:13pm. Trainer Mr S bin Ghadayer was advised that prior to entering the colt to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. Further, a subsequent veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame in the left hind-leg and to have a small wound to its inside thigh. Trainer Mr S bin Ghadayer was advised that prior to the colt being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for LINE OF SUNSHINE (IRE).
