CAPITAL CITY (IRE) - (F Veron): Slow to begin. COAST SKY (GB) - (P Dobbs): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. MAJOR CINNAMON (USA) - (F Jara): Passing the 100 metres bumped heavily on several occasions by another runner and unbalanced its rider. SHANGHAI TONG (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer Mr D Watson was advised that prior to entering the colt to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. SOYUZ (USA) - (S Mazur): Commenced awkwardly. VASARI (USA) - (A Fresu): Over-raced in the early stages. WONDERFUL SKY (USA) - (B Pinheiro): Slow to begin. General: Subsequent to the declaration of correct weight, Trainer Mr M Rahman (MAJOR CINNAMON (USA)) approached the Stewards for the purpose of reviewing the film to consider his option of lodging a protest against the winner SADEEDD (USA)(R Curatolo). Stewards advised Mr M Rahman that as correct weight was declared they were no longer in a position to consider a protest and reminded him of his obligations as a trainer on how to lodge an objection in future. In the review of the film, Stewards were of the opinion that the interference received by MAJOR CINNAMON (USA)(F Jara) was too close to the finishing line and the margin too great (1.25 lengths) to have upheld a protest should one have been lodged. Jockey R Curatolo (SADEEDD (USA)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars being that passing the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in and bump heavily with MAJOR CINNAMON (USA)(F Jara) on two occasions, unbalancing its rider. Jockey R Curatolo had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race meetings (Abu Dhabi 20.12.2020, Meydan 07.01.2021 and Jebel Ali 08.01.2021). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account R Curatolo‘s careless riding record, his guilty plea and assessed the carelessness to be in the low-range.

HARD TASKMASTER (IRE) - (A de Vries): Rounding the turn near the 1200 metres shifted out when laying and hampered another runner. SECRET TRADE (IRE) - (S Mazur): Slow to begin. UNTOLD SECRET (GB) - (J Santiago): Near the 1200 metres hampered by another runner. CELESTIAL SPHERES (IRE) - (F Veron): Slow to begin. EMIRATES EMPIRE (IRE) - (C Beasley): On jumping stumbled and lost ground. RIGHT FLANK (USA) - (P Dobbs): Slow to begin. Passing the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres was held up for a clear run. TAILOR'S ROW (USA) - (R Ffrench): TAFAAKHOR (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Passing the 1200 metres became severely unbalanced when placed awkwardly on the heels of another runner. MIRACLE MAKER (USA) - (X Ziani): Passing the 1200 metres clipped the heels of another runner and lost ground. MONTAKHAB (USA) - (A Fresu): Hampered near the 1200 metres. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MIRACLE MAKER (USA)(X Ziani) clipping the heels of another runner near the 1200 metres. On the video footage it appeared that TAILOR’S ROW (USA)(R Ffrench) shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of TAFAAKHOR (IRE)(D O’Neill), taking that gelding inwards onto MIRACLE MAKER (USA), who was tightened for room and clipped TAFAAKHOR (IRE) heels. Following the incident TAFAAKHOR (IRE) was further tightened for room and became severely unbalanced when awkwardly placed on the heels of TAILOR’S ROW (USA), appearing to clip that gelding heels. Jockey D O’Neill reported to the Stewards that his mount anticipated the upcoming tight turn, causing it to shift inwards abruptly and tighten MIRACLE MAKER (USA), resulting in that colt being tightened for room and clipping his heels. D O’Neill added that his horse surged forward as a result of this contact and stumbled a number of strides later when placed close to the heels of MIRACLE MAKER (USA). D O’Neill did not feel that he was tightened for room at any stage by MIRACLE MAKER (USA) in either incident. R Ffrench agreed with the Steward’s opinion that prior to the first incident there was sufficient running room for both runners to his inside and following the second incident there appeared to be insufficient room for two horses to his inside, however insisted that at no stage did he influence TAFAAKHOR (IRE) in any of the two incidents. Due to the conflicting evidence and limited video footage, Stewards reported the interference as a racing incident and advised all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation.
