FIRNAS (GB) - (R Ffrench): Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider advised that FIRNAS (GB) struggled with the fast tempo of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. JUST A PENNY (IRE) - (P Dobbs): Bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped another runner. LUCIUS TIBERIUS (IRE) - (R Curatolo): Slow to begin and then was bumped shortly after. MONDAIN (GB) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. POET'S PRINCE (GB) - (F Jara): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. SALTARIN DUBAI (ARG) - (R Mullen): Stumbled on jumping. MKFANCY (FR) - (X Ziani): Commenced awkwardly and shifted out. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider advised that MKFANCY (FR) was marginally slow to begin but he was able to take up a forward position as intended, however from the 800 metres the colt failed to respond to his riding. He added that MKFANCY (FR) appeared normal in its action on return to scale and that the colt may not have been suited to Jebel Ali’s track. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Jockey R Mullen (SALTARIN DUBAI (ARG)) was fined AED 4000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 16 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was R Mullen’s first breach of this Rule for the season, that he won the race by a nose and that today’s event was a Listed race.
