Other comments: Horses that had not started in more than 365 days underwent a pre-race veterinary examination by the ERA Veterinarian and were passed suitable to race. The start of the race was delayed by approximately 2 minutes. AL MANSOUR NF (FR) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly. Near the 400 metres was bumped by another runner. ASIF (OM) - (S Mazur): Commenced awkwardly brushing the outside gate. KERLESS DEL ROC (FR) - (R Mullen): Whilst proceeding to the start dislodged its rider, galloped rider-less for a considerable distance before being recaptured. As a result, the Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of KERLESS DEL ROC (FR) at 4:59pm. MUJEEB (FR) - (F Veron): Shortly after the start was taken in by another runner and attemped to savage that filly. OSS (US) - (J Rosales): Commenced awkwardly. RAJEE (FR) - (F Jara): On jumping bumped by another runner and hampered. Raced wide without cover throughout. SHOJA'A MUSCAT (OM) - (A Al Balushi): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner, losing ground. HAMEEM (AE) - (A de Vries): On jumping shifted out. Approaching the 400 metres was held up for a clear run, shifted out and bumped another runner. ZUHOOR (AE) - (R Curatolo): Near the 500 metres bumped by another runner. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly the rider advised that ZUHOOR (AE) pulled hard in the early and middle stages and as a result the saddle commenced to shift to his left, resulting in him having to ease the filly down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. General: Jockey R Mullen (KERLESS DEL ROC (FR)) who was dislodged when proceeding to the start was examined by the Club’s Medical Doctor and was passed fit to fulfill his remaining engagements. Stewards inquired into the reason for AL MANSOUR NF (FR)(A Fresu) being bumped near the 400 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the home turn HAMEEM (AE)(A de Vries) shifted out when held up for a clear run and bumped AL MANSOUR NF (FR). Stewards advised Jockey A de Vries to exercise more care when shifting ground in the future.

MARZAGA (AE) - (F Jara): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Approaching the 1300 metres had to be eased off the heels of another runner. Lay out under pressure in the straight. MIRNA (FR) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly throwing its head. Near the 300 metres hampered by another runner. OMANIA (GB) - (A Al Balushi): Eased when tightened for room near the 500 metres. RAWAA (FR) - (T O'Shea): On jumping was bumped by another runner. Near the 300 metres lay out and hampered another runner. RB BLYNG (US) - (A Fresu): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. WINKED (US) - (C Beasley): Slow to begin. Lay out under pressure in the straight. Tightened for room near the 500 metres. General: Trainer Mr M Al Jahoori (MARZAGA (AE)) was fined AED 250 under the provisions of ERA Rule 31(i)(e) for failing to notify the ERA of the vaccination update to MARZAGA (AE). Stewards inquired into the reason for MARZAGA (AE)(F Jara) having to be restrained off the heels of another runner near the 1300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 1300 metres BASMAH (FR)(H Lebouc) shifted in when insufficiently clear of MARZAGA (AE), who had to ease off that horse’s heels. Stewards advised Apprentice H Lebouc to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. Stewards inquired into the reason for OMANIA (GB)(A Al Balushi) having to be eased near the 500 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 500 metres BASMAH (FR)(H Lebouc) shifted in when insufficiently clear of WINKED (US)(C Beasley), who was tightened for room inwards onto OMANIA (GB), which had to be eased. Stewards advised Apprentice H Lebouc to exercise more care when shifting ground in the future.

MARK OF APPROVAL (USA) - (F Veron): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. MEDAHIM (IRE) - (R Mullen): Near the 150 metres the rider dropped his whip. MOTAFAAWIT (IRE) - (N Crosse): Slow to begin. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for GM HOPKINS (GB)(P Cosgrave) being taken in off its running near the 100 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that BOERHAN (GB) (R Curatolo) , which had been shifting inward from the 300 metres forced EQTIRAAN (IRE)(S Paiva) inwards onto GM HOPKINS (GB), which lost its rightful running approaching the 100 metres. Stewards took into account the evidence of P Cosgrave that he did not need to restrain his mount, rather stop riding as he would have raced on the heels of TAAMOL (IRE). Jockey R Curatolo (BOERHAN (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA 69(i) for careless riding and advised to exercise more care in a similar situation.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Mr A Al Mehairbi was advised that prior to entering the horse to race again, he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for MAKTOOB (AE) General: Apprentice H Lebouc (ALABER (AE)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars of the charge being that near 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of AF MUGHEETH (AE)(F Jara), which had to be checked when placed onto the heels of AF MUSANNEF (AE)(T O'Shea). Apprentice H Lebouc had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race meetings (Abu Dhabi 13.12.2020, Meydan 17.12.2020 and Jebel Ali 18.12.2020). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account H Lebouc‘s good careless riding record, his guilty plea and assessed the carelessness to be in the low-range. Jockey C Beasley (AF ALAREEQ (AE)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars of the charge being that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MAKTOOB (AE)(S Paiva), who was tightened for room and clipped his heels, severely unbalancing its rider. Jockey R Curatolo (MH WARI (AE)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear bumping ALABER (AE)(H Lebouc), which was taken outwards onto AF SENAD (AE)(J Santiago), who clipped the heels of ALABER (AE) resulting in the rider becoming severely unbalanced.
