Shortly after the start shifted out abruptly and bumped another runner heavily. Near the 700 metres shifted out abruptly and bumped another runner. When questioned regarding the racing manners of the colt, trainer Mr H Alalawi advised that he would remove the blinkers from RB KINGS BAY (US) for its next start. Further Mr H Alalawi was advised that prior to entering the colt to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. AF ARRAB (AE) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly. ASHTR (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Slow to begin. Rounding the home turn was taken wider on the track by another runner. RAS ALHADD (FR) - (S Mazur): On jumping bumped heavily by another runner, stumbled and unbalanced it rider, losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ASHJAAN (AE) - (F Veron): On jumping was bumped heavily by another runner, shifted out and bumped another runner. AF SEVEN SKIES (FR) - (B Pinheiro): Shortly after the start was bumped heavily by another runner. Near the 700 metres was bumped by another runner. SHAREEF KB (FR) - (A de Vries): When questioned regarding the performance of the horse, the rider advised that SHAREEF KB (FR) felt amiss in its action rounding the home turn and for this reason eased the horse down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. OSAKA (AE) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. RB FRYNCH DISH (US) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly. General: Jockey T O’Shea (AF ARRAB (AE)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was T O’Shea’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Jockey F Veron (ASHJAAN (AE)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that this was F Veron’s first breach of this Rule for the season.

HELIOS DE FAUST (FR) - (P Cosgrave): On jumping shifted out and tightened for room between other runners. MKA ALHUZM (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Commenced awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages and was restrained through the field until settling in a rearward position. MUJEEB (FR) - (F Veron): Commenced awkwardly. OTINA (FR) - (J Rosales): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. OZONE LAYER (US) - (B Pinheiro): Slow to begin and was tightened for room shortly after the start. MUMAYAZA (AE) - (A de Vries): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. General: Stewards questioned apprentice A Al Balushi (MKA ALHUZM (AE)) regarding his tactics in the early stages of the race, particularly why he elected to relinquish a forward position to eventually settle toward the back of the field. A Al Balushi advised that he was instructed to race in a forward position, ideally just behind the leaders, however after jumping extremely well, he found himself leading and then the colt commenced to race ungenerously. He added that he elected to restrain MKA ALHUZM (AE) in an attempt to ride to the instructions, however shortly after realized that due to the racing manners of the colt, MKA ALHUZM (AE) was not suited to racing to the inside of other runners. For this reason, he continued to restrain MKA ALHUZM (AE) to a position toward the back of the field. Trainer Mr A S Al Shamsi confirmed the instructions given to A Al Balushi. Stewards noted A Al Balushi’s explanation and advised that he had erred in electing to relinquish his established racing position, that being a forward position. In considering the tactics adopted by Apprentice A Al Balushi, Stewards noted his inexperience however advised him that in future he must ensure that he takes all reasonable measures to ensure that he rides in a way to give his mount the best possible chance within a race.
