Other comments: Horses that have not started in more than 365 days underwent a pre-race veterinary examination by the ERA Veterinarian and were passed suitable to race. EL WARD (QA) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000 metres had to be steadied. Lay out rounding the turn and as a result raced wide without cover for the majority. SALLIM (QA) - (S Al Balushi): Slow to begin. Lay out rounding the home turn. Passing the 200 metres shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip. AF QWASS (FR) - (S Paiva): Commenced awkwardly. CELTIC HAROON (FR) - (S Mazur): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Slow to begin. MUSHARAE (FR) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. AL HAZEM MAJAN (AE) - (F Veron): Slow into stride. Passing the 100 metres when racing ungenerously shifted in when struck with the whip and brushed the running rail. SAMI ALAWDA (AE) - (B Pinheiro): Slow to begin (4 lengths). AF ASHAM (AE) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly. BARRAQAT AL KHALEDIAH (SA) - (A Al Balushi): Approaching the 1000 metres was checked off the heels of another runner and shifted outwards. OUM EZZINE (AE) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. General: Jockey S Paiva (AF QWASS (FR)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of BARRAQAT AL KHALEDIAH (SA)(A Al Balushi), which had to be checked and shift outwards, resulting in EL WARD (QA)(J Rosales) having to be steadied. Jockey S Paiva had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race-meetings. Due to the UAE Racing season ending before the suspension can commence, the ERA will request the relevant Racing Authority where S Paiva will be riding in future to reciprocate the penalty. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account S Paiva’s careless riding record, his guilty plea and assessed the carelessness to be in the low-range.

Correct weight was delayed as an objection was lodged by Trainer Mr E Oertel (AF TARAHA (AE)(8th Place)) against FAKHR (FR)(S Mazur)(3rd Place)) and RB DIXIE HONOR (US)(A M Al Balushi)(4th Place)) alleging interference approaching the 150 metres. After viewing the available video footage and taking evidence from all respective Trainers and jockeys, it was established that approaching the 150 metres AF TARAHA (AE) had to be checked when bumped and tightened for room by FAKHR (FR), which had been taken inwards by SHARKH (FR). Taking into account the beaten margins at the finish, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the incident not occurred, AF TARAHA (AE) would have beaten either RB DIXIE HONOR (US) or FAKHR (FR) and as such the objection was dismissed and correct width declared. TAAJER (AE) - (F Veron): On jumping was taken inwards by another runner then bumped another runner. ALAZOUM (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Commenced awkwardly and then shortly after was tightened for room. RB DIXIE HONOR (US) - (A M Al Balushi): lay inwards from the 300 metres. MAALY AL REEF (AE) - (B Pinheiro): On jumping shifted out and was bumped heavily on the hind-quarter on a number of occasion by another runner. WAKEEL W'RSAN (AE) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. AF TARAHA (AE) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly and shifted ground inwards. Approaching the 150 metres was bumped by another runner and had to be checked. ES GHAZI (AE) - (S Paiva): Over-raced in the early stages. FAKHR (FR) - (S Mazur): On jumping was tightened for room, shifted in and bumped heavily with another runner. Approaching the 150 metres was taken inwards by another runner and bumped another runner. Acting on a telephone call from Trainer Mr A bin Harmash, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the gelding at 4:14pm. Trainer Mr A bin Harmash was advised that prior to the gelding being entered to race again, he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for POET'S PRINCE (GB). MILLER'S HOUSE (USA) - (F Veron): Near the 1300 metres eased off the heels of another runner. LAW OF PEACE (GB) - (T O'Shea): On jumping bumped heavily and lost ground. REBEL STREAK (GB) - (J Rosales): Shortly after the start was taken inwards by another runner for a considerable distance. MAZAGRAN (GB) - (M Holmberg): Began awkwardly. General: Apprentice A Al Balushi (ZORION (GB)) was advised to exercise more care when permitting his mount to shift, in that shortly after the start he shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of REBEL STREAK (GB)(J Rosales), thereby taking that gelding on an inwards course for a considerable distance.
