Other comments: Horses that have not started in more than 365 days underwent a pre-race veterinary examination by the ERA Veterinarian and were passed suitable to race. 21.02.2020: Abu Dhabi - Race 2 Stewards inquired into the reason for QASSIM (FR)(G Bon) being carried outwards and hampered, from the 200 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 200 metres WHISTLE (US)(H Bentley) lay outwards for some distance, resulting in QASSIM (FR) being obliged to shift out to avoid WHISTLE’S (US) heels. Jockey H Bentley was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift outwards when not sufficiently clear of other runners. 21.02.2020: Abu Dhabi - Race 4 Stewards inquired into the reason for AL AJAYIB (AE)(G Bon) being bumped heavily approaching the 400 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 400 metres HEBA AL WATHBA (AE)(R Mullen) shifted outwards abruptly, bumped heavily with AL AJAYIB (AE), resulting in the rider getting unbalanced and further making heavy contact with AS QOOT (AE)(E Chaves). In noting R Mullen’s explanation that HEBA AL WATHBA (AE) was wearing cheek pieces for the first time and that his mount shifted out abruptly of its own accord, he did make an effort to straighten the filly shortly after. Stewards also note that the filly continued to lay out for the remainder of the race. Stewards took into account the racing manners of the HEBA AL WATHBA (AE) and reprimanded R Mullen under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding, in that he must do his utmost to ensure his mounts stay straight in future. AF MOMTAZ (AE) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly. AKMAL (FR) - (S Mazur): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. AOUN (FR) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. BANDAR (FR) - (F Jara): Shortly after the start bumped another runner. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, the rider advised that when placed under pressure near the 800 metres, BANDAR (FR) failed to respond to his riding. He added that the horse appeared normal in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. BRRAQ (FR) - (R Curatolo): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. MOUADJIZ (FR) - (H Bentley): Slow to begin. Commenced to lay out rounding the turn near the 1600 metres. Raced wide without cover throughout. RB TEXAS HOLD EM (US) - (P Dobbs): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. RB TORCH (US) - (F Veron): Bumped on jumping.
