Other comments: Horses that have not started in more than 365 days underwent a pre-race veterinary examination by the ERA Veterinarian and were passed suitable to race. General: Trainer Mr R Bouresly (MORRABBI AL AJJIAL (USA)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 60(ii) in that he failed to provide the scratching certificate within 48 hours of the designated race time. Further, Trainer Mr. R Bouresly (JAAZEM (IRE)) was fined AED 250 under the provisions of ERA Rule 31(i)(e) for failing to notify the ERA of the vaccination update to JAAZEM (IRE). BIN MUHAARAR (GB) - (A de Vries): Commenced awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. GREAT IMAGE (IRE) - (P Dobbs): Shortly after the start was bumped by another runner. JAFAR (USA) - (B Pinheiro): Commenced awkwardly. MAJOR CINNAMON (USA) - (F Jara): Hung out rounding the home turn. TAKHTEET (USA) - (J Santiago): Slow to begin. WELCOME SURPRISE (IRE) - (J Crowley): Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 300 metres had to be eased when tightened for room. AJMAL (USA) - (S Mazur): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Lay out under pressure rounding the home turn. COCOBAI (USA) - (X Ziani): Raced wide without cover for the majority. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for WELCOME SURPRISE (IRE)(J Crowley) having to be eased approaching the 300 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that shortly after straightening GREAT IMAGE (IRE)(P Dobbs) shifted out marginally and tightened the room of WELCOME SURPRISE (IRE), resulting in the gelding having to be eased. Stewards took into account the evidence tendered by J Crowley that prior to being tightened for room he was initially easing as he felt MAJOR CINNAMON (USA)(F Jara) was going to shift inwards, due to its racing manners. P Dobbs was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding and advised to exercise more care in a similar situation.

WELSH LORD (GB) - (A Fresu): Shortly after the start brushed another runner. ALFAREEQ (IRE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. DESERT PEACE (USA) - (W Buick): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. GALVANIZE (USA) - (S Hitchcott): A post-race veterinary examination of the horse which gave ground over the concluding stages failed to reveal any abnormalities. WINGS OF TIME (GB) - (F Jara): Over-raced in the early stages. SPIRIT OF LIGHT (IRE) - (C Lecoeuvre): Over-raced in the early stages. TROLIUS (IRE) - (H Bentley): Slow to begin. Near the 800 metres lay out onto the heels of another runner and had to be restrained. MONOSKI (USA) - (X Ziani): When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider reported that MONOSKI (USA) failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH that may have affected the gelding’s performance. HOMESPIN (USA) - (J Santiago): Raced wide without cover in the early stages. MILLER'S HOUSE (USA) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly. Near the 1400 metres had to be eased and lost ground. General: Jockey R Curatolo (HYDE PARK (GB)) pled not guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 1400 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MILLER'S HOUSE (USA)(R Mullen), resulting in the gelding being tightened for room and having to be eased, losing ground. After taking further submissions from R Curatolo, the Stewards were not fully satisfied that the degree of interference suffered to MILLER’S HOUSE (USA) warranted a charge for careless riding and therefore issued R Curatolo with a reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i). R Curatolo was strongly advised that he must do his upmost to be sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground in a similar situation. Stewards inquired into the reason for TROLIUS (IRE)(H Bentley) having to be restrained near the 800 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 800 metres TROLIUS (IRE) failed to negotiate the turn as intended, lay out on the heels of DESERT PEACE (USA)(W Buick) and as a result had to be restrained. Stewards were of the view that the incident occurred due to the racing manners of TROLIUS (IRE) and therefore took no action.
