Stewards' Reports for Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline
The start of the race was delayed by approximately 12 minutes due to the late withdrawal of GREAT SCOT (GB) and MILITARY LAW (GB). CAPEZZANO (USA) - (R Ffrench): Commenced awkwardly and bumped another runner. GREAT SCOT (GB) - (L Dettori): En route to the barrier became detached from the outrider and galloped rider-less for a considerable distance. Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the gelding at 8:48pm. On return to scale the rider explained that en route to the barriers his saddle slipped on the gelding, which had been fractious in the preliminary, resulting in him being dislodged. HYPOTHETICAL (IRE) - (M Barzalona): Commenced awkwardly. JESUS' TEAM (USA) - (J Rosario): Commenced awkwardly, bumped another runner and then was tightened for room. MAGNY COURS (USA) - (W Buick): Bumped on jumping. MILITARY LAW (GB) - (A Fresu): Scrambled under the front of the barrier and galloped rider-less for some distance before being captured. Acting on veterinary advice Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the gelding at 9:00pm. Trainer Mr M Al Mheiri was advised that prior to entering the gelding to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. MYSTIC GUIDE (USA) - (L Saez): Commenced awkwardly and bumped another runner. SLEEPY EYES TODD (USA) - (A Moreno): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Marginally slow. Shortly after the start was tightened for room and lost ground. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. THEGREATCOLLECTION (USA) - (P Cosgrave): Near the 600 metres hampered by another runner. General: Jockey L Saez (MYSTIC GUIDE (USA)) was fined AED 50,000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides on two occasions in the straight, first occasion being two times and the second occasion being four times. In assessing the penalty Stewards noted that today’s event was a Group 1 Race worth US$12 million and that he won the race.
