Raced wide without cover throughout. SHARKH (FR) - (A Al Balushi): Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. Acting under the provisions of ERA Rule 21B(a)&(e), Trainer Mr. H Alalawi was notified that the horse would not be permitted to exercise, train or race for a period of 21 days, and following must complete a satisfactory gallop in the presence of the ERA Stewards or veterinary officer. ZALMAN (FR) - (X Ziani): Leaving the mounting yard bumped the running rail and underwent a veterinary examination behind the barrier, being passed suitable to race. Prior to Stewards declaring correct weight Stewards viewed the video footage of the start to ascertain whether MUJEEB (FR) had been denied a fair start. It was established that MUJEEB (FR), who had been fractious in the barrier, immediately prior to the start being affected ducked its head, requiring the barrier attendant who was holding the colt’s bridle to correct MUJEEB (FR). As a result, MUJEEB (FR) was slow to begin by approximately 3 lengths. In the circumstances Stewards determined that MUJEEB (FR) was afforded a fair start and the reason for the colt losing ground at the start was due to its barrier manners. AF AL BAIRAQ (AE) - (T O'Shea): Near the 900 metres was tightened for room and was forced inwards onto another runner. CHEIK ROQUE (FR) - (S Al Balushi): Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. DAGUI LOTOIS (FR) - (S Paiva): Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Brushed the running rail near the 1200 metres. AKMAL (FR) - (A Fresu): Near the 900 metres was bumped by another runner. MUJEEB (FR) - (R Mullen): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start and lost ground on jumping. Near the 900 metres shifted in when racing close to the heels of another runner and bumped another runner. Trainer Mr. S Al Ketbi was advised that prior to entering the colt to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. WINKED (US) - (S Hitchcott): Near the 900 metres had to be checked when tightened for room. General: Trainer Mr. S bin Ghadayer (CHADDAD (GB)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 51(vii) for the late equipment change to race the horse with a shadow roll on. Stewards inquired into the reason for WINKED (US)(S Hitchcott) having to be checked near the 900 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 900 metres MUJEEB (FR)(R Mullen) shifted in when racing close to the heels of CHADDAD (GB)(R Ffrench), as a result bumped AKMAL (FR)(A Fresu) which shifted in and tightened the running of AF AL BAIRAQ (AE)(T O'Shea), which was forced inwards and took the rightful running of WINKED (US)(S Hitchcott), that had to be checked. It was the Stewards view that R Mullen shifted inwards due to racing onto the heels of CHADDAD (GB) and as a result was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) for careless riding.
