The start of the race was delayed by approximately 4 minutes due to the late withdrawal of TAHDEED (USA). BENIN (GB) - (S Hitchcott): Due to the barrier manners of TAHDEED (USA), which was positioned next to BENIN (GB), the gate opened up and the gelding jumped prior to the field being fully loaded. BENIN (GB) was quickly restrained and underwent a veterinary examination, being passed suitable to race. A subsequent post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which finished last, revealed BENIN (GB) to be mildly lame in the left fore-leg. DIGNITY JOY (USA) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly. SOUND OF DUBAI (IRE) - (A M Al Balushi): Over-raced in the early and middle stages. TAHDEED (USA) - (R Mullen): After being loaded into the barrier became fractious and broke through the front of the gate, galloped riderless for a considerable distance before being captured. Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the gelding at 2:46PM. A subsequent post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr. N Bachalard was advised that prior to entering the gelding to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test.

MEQDAM (IRE) - (P Dobbs): Shortly after the start bumped on the hind-quarter by another runner. RIGHT FLANK (USA) - (A de Vries): Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Near the 1100 metres bumped by another runner. MAQAADEER (GB) - (S Hitchcott): After arriving on track, required its right hind-shoe to be reshod. Slow to begin. ONE VISION (IRE) - (S Paiva): Commenced awkwardly. SEA SKIMMER (GB) - (B Pinheiro): Commenced awkwardly and was bumped by another runner. General: Jockey P Dobbs was found guilty and fined AED 1000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 11(h) in that he used insulting behaviour when leaving the scale towards an ERA Official. Jockey T O’Shea (DUBAI CANAL (GB)) was fined AED 1000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 13 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was T O’Shea’s first breach of this Rule for the season and that he won the race.

Near the 1200 metres taken wider on the track by another runner. UNTOLD SECRET (GB) - (R Ffrench): Near the 1200 metres had to be eased when tightened for room at the inside of another runner. MAYAADEEN (IRE) - (G Buckell): Near the 1200 metres restrained off the heels of another runner and shifted outwards. MONTAKHAB (USA) - (B Pinheiro): Over-raced in the middle stages. COAST SKY (GB) - (S Hitchcott): Commenced awkwardly. AL BAREZ (USA) - (A M Al Balushi): Slow to begin. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for MAYAADEEN (IRE)(G Buckell) restraining off heels near the 1200 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that passing the 1300 metres TOLMOUNT (GB)(X Ziani) shifted inwards resulting in UNTOLD SECRET (GB)(R Ffrench), having to be eased. MAYAADEEN (IRE) which was racing behind UNTOLD SECRET (GB) became awkwardly placed on that gelding’s heels, having to be restrained and shift outwards. As there was no available head on video footage and the Stewards were unable to be established the margin between TOLMOUNT (GB) and UNTOLD SECRET (GB), when TOLMOUNT (GB) was permitted to shift inwards, Jockey X Ziani was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i) and reminded that he must be sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground.
