The start of the race was delayed by four minutes due to the incident involving the late withdrawal of HAMID ALAWDA (AE). AF DARA (AE) - (T O'Shea): Lay out under pressure rounding the turn then raced under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. AH RABAH (AE) - (G Sanchez): Raced ungenerously in the early stages. EZZ ALMADAM (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Shortly after the start had to be eased off the heels of another runner. Near the 400 metres was disappointed for a clear run and had to shift inwards. HAMID ALAWDA (AE) - (A Fresu): On the way to the barrier, dislodged its rider and galloped two circuits of the course before being re-captured. Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the colt at 4:24pm. Trainer Mr. I Al Hadhrami was advised a warning will be placed against the colt for its pre-race manners. RED DESERT (AE) - (S Kirrane): Slow to begin. MM AL BALQAA (AE) - (B Pinheiro): MUNARCHIE (AE) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin General: Jockey A Fresu was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. Jockey P Dobbs (JAP GABOUB (AE)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(i) for hitting his mount in front of the saddle whilst holding the whip in the forehand. Stewards took into account that this was P Dobbs’s first breach of this Rule for the season.

AF RASAM (AE) - (T O'Shea): On jumping shifted outwards abruptly and bumped another runner. ES METHAYIL (AE) - (S Paiva): Shortly after the start was tightened for room and had to be checked. JAP MABROKA (AE) - (R Ffrench): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. QALB ALMUTAWA (AE) - (G Buckell): Slow to begin and was bumped by another runner. BARJAH (AE) - (B Pinheiro): On jumping was taken inwards by another runner, then bumped another runner. Raced ungenerously from the middle stages. Lay out rounding the home turn. MOUJAB (AE) - (G Sanchez): Commenced awkwardly, lost ground, was reluctant to race in the early stages and was eased out of the race near the home-turn. When queried, the rider reported that the colt did not respond to his riding in the early stages and did not stretch out, therefore he eased MOUJAB (AE) out of the race in the middle stages. Trainer Dr. J Bittar was advised that prior to entering the colt to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Eased down by its rider and failed to finish. When queried, the rider reported that the gelding was reluctant to race and failed to respond to pressure throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. NIBRAAS (USA) - (R Mullen): Began awkwardly and lost ground. Between the 350 metres until the 250 metres was held up for clear running. SHERIFFMUIR (USA) - (B Pinheiro): Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 400 metres when held up for clear running shifted out taking another runner wider on the track. Near the 200 metres shifted out slightly under pressure. Raced wide without cover throughout. TAHDEED (USA) - (F Jara): Approaching the 400 metres was brushed and taken wider on the track by another runner. Near the 200 metres restrained away from the heels of another runner that shifted ground. MELLAD (GB) - (S Al Balushi): Slow to begin then bumped by another runner.
