AL THOURA (FR) - (G Sanchez): Commenced awkwardly. QAISAR (FR) - (R Mullen): Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, the rider advised that QAISAR (FR) never travelled well throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be mildly lame in the right hind-leg. REEM BAYNOUNAH (FR) - (F Jara): Fractious in the barrier and difficult to load prior to the start. On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner heavily and shortly after eased off the heels of another runner. Trainer Mr. M Daggash was advised that prior to entering the horse to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. AF MOHANAK (AE) - (M Rodrigues): Raced wide without cover throughout. On jumping was bumped by another runner. AF MUHEM (AE) - (B Pinheiro): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Lay out in the early stages. Near the 800 was bumped by another runner and became unbalanced. AF QASSED (AE) - (L Chimenes): On jumping was bumped on the hind-quarters by another runner. Near the 450 metres eased off the heels of another runner when laying and lost ground. AF YENOMES (AE) - (T O'Shea): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. ALABER (AE) - (S Al Balushi): On jumping bumped and hampered between runners. ALDAANA (GB) - (R Dawson): Commenced awkwardly. EMELYNA DU CAYROU (FR) - (S Paiva): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Near the 300 metres had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by another runner. JAP AL AGHAR (AE) - (G Buckell): Bumped on jumping. Near the 800 metres was bumped and had to be checked off the heels of another runner. JAP HADAD (AE) - (R Ffrench): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Over the final 300 metres was bumped by another runner on several occasions and taken outwards off its course. IHSAN D'ETIOLLES (FR) - (A Fresu): On jumping bumped between runners. MEGTAH ALBAHAR (SA) - (A Al Balushi): Commenced awkwardly. Over the final 300 metres bumped another runner on several occasions when shifting ground outwards. Rider advised that the colt had a tendency to hang outwards over the concluding stages when under pressure. JAP MABROKA (AE) - (D O'Neill): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. On straightening shifted out and was disappointed for a clear run. Approaching the 300 metres shifted inwards when under pressure. Rider advised that the mare raced green and had a tendency to hang inwards away from other runners in the straight. JUHEINA (FR) - (A de Vries): On jumping bumped and tightened for room. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for JAP AL AGHAR (AE)(G Buckell) having to check near the 800 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that near the 800 metres JAP AL AGHAR (AE) bumped with AF MUHEM (AE)(B Pinheiro) and as a result had to be checked off the heels of EMELYNA DU CAYROU (FR)(S Paiva). Evidence was tendered that JAP AL AGHAR (AE) was racing tight to the inside of AF MUHEM (AE) and receiving pressure, which placed him on the heels of EMELYNA DU CAYROU (FR). Stewards questioned whether EMELYNA DU CAYROU (FR), which had shifted outwards in the lead up to the incident had contributed, however both G Buckell and S Paiva were of the view that EMELYNA DU CAYROU (FR) had no influence on the incident. Due to the conflicting evidence tendered and limited footage, Stewards could not attribute blame on any one rider and advised all riders to exercise more care in a similar situation and reported the matter as a racing incident. Jockey D O’Neill (JAP MABROKA (AE)) was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground, in that approaching the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in and momentarily tightened the running of EMELYNA DU CAYROU (FR)(S Paiva), resulting in that mare having to be steadied. Jockey A Al Balushi (MEGTAH ALBAHAR (SA)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), the particulars being that over the final 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift outwards and made insufficient effort to correct his mount, thereby taking JAP HADAD (AE)(R Ffrench) on an outwards course and bumping that horse on several occasions. A Al Balushi had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race meetings (Meydan 25 February 2022, Sharjah 26 February 2022 and Jebel Ali 27 February 2022). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey A Al Balushi’s good careless riding record, guilty plea and assessed the incident as a low range charge.
