The start of the race was delayed by approximately 6 minutes due to the farrier attending AF LAYTH (AE) to get its right fore-plate re-fitted. Correct weight was delayed due to Trainer Mr. A Daud (ES SUDANI (AE)), which finished second, to review the video footage, in a view of lodging an objection. After viewing the footage he elected not to proceed with an objection. AF DARA (AE) - (M Rodrigues): Near the 350 metres lay in under pressure and brushed the running rail. AF LAYTH (AE) - (T O'Shea): En-route to the barrier pulled of it right fore-plate and was re-fitted on arrival at the barrier. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Passing the 400 metres shifted in when laying, bumping and taking another runner inwards. Near the 250 metres bumped another runner. Over the concluding stages brushed another runner. JANAH A'THANI W'RSAN (AE) - (R Dawson): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. AH MAHABAH (AE) - (S Kirrane): Raced ungenerously in the early stages. AF YENOMES (AE) - (R Dawson): Lost its left fore-plate during the race. Approaching the 200 metres when laying shifted in and bumped another runner. HAWAFEZ (AE) - (A de Vries): Saddle had to be re-adjusted on arrival at the barrier. On jumping lost ground. Held up for a clear run rounding the home turn until approaching the 100 metres, where the horse commenced to lay out under pressure. AF BARARI (AE) - (J Santiago): On jumping was tightened for room, hampered and lost ground. Approaching the 200 metres bumped and became unbalanced. SHAFAF (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Slow to begin. Correct weight was delayed due to an objection being lodged by Trainer Mr. M Daggash (SULTANA (GB), which was placed third, against HAROON (GB)(A Fresu), which was placed first, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After viewing the video footage and taking evidence from both riders and respective Trainers, it was established that over the concluding stages HAROON (GB) shifted outwards abruptly resulting in SULTANA (GB) having to be checked when tightened for room. Taking into account the margin at the finish of 1.25 lengths, that the interference occurred approaching the winning post and that HAROON (GB) had made ground past SULTANA (GB) before the incident, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred that there would have been no alteration in the finishing order of the race. As such the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared. AF MUALAMI (FR) - (T O'Shea): Bumped by another runner in the straight. HAROON (GB) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Had to shift inwards passing the 200 metres when runners to the inside shifted outwards. Approaching the winning post shifted outward abruptly and bumped another runner. ITCHY DE NACRE (FR) - (A Al Balushi): Reared on jumping and lost ground. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. MH FRENCHY D'EPINETTE (FR) - (P Dobbs): Bumped on jumping and lost ground. QASED SB (OM) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. RB HEADLYGHT (US) - (R Mullen): Had to be eased when momentarily tightened for room by another runner near the 100 metres. SADN (FR) - (B Pinheiro): Commenced awkwardly. TAJ AL IZZ (FR) - (S Kirrane): Over-raced in the early stages. YAS XMNSOR (AE) - (S Al Balushi): Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Approaching the winning post had to be checked when tightened for room and bumped by another runner. General: Subsequent to the objection, Stewards inquired into the reason for SULTANA (GB)(F Jara) being tightened for room over the concluding stages. On the evidence and available footage it was established that over the concluding stages HAROON (GB)(A Fresu) shifted out abruptly tightening the running of SULTANA (GB), which was bumped and had to be checked. Stewards took into account the racing manners of HAROON (GB) and noted that A Fresu did his upmost to straighten his mount as the incident occurred. As such the incident was reported it as a racing incident. Apprentice S Al Balushi (YAS XMNSOR (AE)) was advised to exercise more care, in that near the 100 metres he shifted in when laying and hampered RB HEADLYGHT (US)(R Mullen).
