Stewards' Reports for Etihad Museum (Div 1)
On the morning of the meeting ERA Stewards and representatives of the Dubai Racing Club inspected both the dirt and turf tracks to assess their suitability for racing, after 30mm of rain had fallen in the past 24 hours. The dirt track had been sealed and was found to be suitable to race, however a section of turf approximately 25 metres long approaching the winning post, was found to be significantly softer than the remainder of the track. Consideration was given to available remedial work that could be attempted however concerns for the safety of horses and riders given the change in surfaces meant that the decision was made to transfer races 3 and 4 to the dirt track and abandon race 7 due to the dirt track being unable to accommodate a 1000 metre start. Due to continued rain, the track condition was downgraded from Fast to Muddy at 4pm. Prior to the running of race 1 a delegation of riders, the ERA Stewards and DRC Track Maintenance Manager Mr. Patrick Baker inspected a section of the dirt track leaving the 1400 metre chute, which had retained more water than the remainder of the track. The track was deemed suitable to race. AF RAMI (FR) - (L Chimenes): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. AF FAKHAMA (AE) - (D O'Neill): When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. JAP HADAD (AE) - (R Ffrench): Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. ONLY NOW (US) - (P Cosgrave): Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped another runner. AF BAREEQ (FR) - (T O'Shea): Began awkwardly. Near the1200 metres shifted in abruptly before being straightened by its rider. AS DHOFAR ALAIN (OM) - (E Chaves): Bumped on jumping. QALB ALMUTAWA (AE) - (S Kirrane): Slow to begin before being bumped by another runner shortly after. Raced ungenerously in the early stages, shifting ground both ways. TAJ AL IZZ (FR) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. Got its head up when avoiding kickback in the middle stages. AL KHALEEJY (GB) - (A Al Balushi): Began awkwardly. FARHAT MARAWAN (AE) - (J Rosales): Slow to begin and lost ground.
