Stewards' Reports for Emaar Dubai Sprint Consolation
DURANDAL (GB) - (T O'Shea): On return to scale the rider advised that approaching the winning post the gelding went amiss and as a result he had to dismount DURANDAL (GB) on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left fore-leg and was transported to the Dubai Equine Hospital for further assessment. On further assessment, DURANDAL (GB) ruptured its left-fore suspensory ligament and had to be humanely euthanized. KING LEO (GB) - (R Dawson): Commenced awkwardly. Held up for a clear run between the 300 metres until approaching the 200 metres. RAAEB (IRE) - (D O'Neill): Near the 450 metres lay out away from the heels of another runner. Approaching the 200 metres had to be eased off the heels of another runner. STONE OF DESTINY (GB) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin and was tightened for room shortly after the start. Near the 450 metres raced in restricted room between other runners. URGENT APPEAL (IRE) - (W Buick): Slow to begin. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for RAAEB (IRE)(D O'Neill) having to be eased off heels approaching the 200 metres. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 200 metres KING LEO (GB)(R Dawson) shifted inwards when improving, resulting in RAAEB (IRE) having to be eased off that gelding’s heels. R Dawson was advised to exercise more care when permitting his mount to shift ground in a similar situation.

Approaching the 1200 metres was allowed to stride forward to take up a forward position. UCHCHAIHSHRAVAS (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start. Commenced awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages, racing wide without cover as a result. Due to the barrier manners of UCHCHAIHSHRAVAS (IRE) an endoscopic examination was conducted and revealed no bleeding within the trachea with the veterinarian’s findings being that blood was present because of external trauma. Trainer Mr. K de Burca was advised that prior to entering the filly to race again, he must complete one satisfactory stalls test.
