Other Comments / Explanations Subsequent to declarations it was ascertained that the weights for Race 7 had not been adjusted in accordance with the conditions of the race. Under the provisions of ERA Rule 18(i)(a), the weights for Race 7, Purebred Arabian Conditions 1000 metres, were adjusted to reflect that “should no 4YO enter and/or declare to run the weights will be adjusted to 58.0 kg.” Race 1 - Al Markhaniya - 1400 metres RB KINGS BAY (US) - (R Mullen): Passing the 800 metres bumped by another runner. AF RASAM (AE) - (D O'Neill): On jumping was bumped by another runner, taken in and bumped another runner. Rounding the home turn bumped another runner. When questioned regarding the poor performance of the horse, the rider advised that AF RASAM (AE) may not be suited to the dirt surface. AF DARS (AE) - (M Rodrigues): Stumbled on jumping. Near the 700 metres tightened for room and lost ground. AF HAZEM (FR) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin and lost ground. RB SHARK (US) - (R Dawson): Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. AF SEVEN SKIES (FR) - (R Ffrench): On jumping bumped, tightened for room and lost ground. Rounding the home turn was bumped by another runner. HORGANZA (FR) - (S Hitchcott): Began awkwardly. FARRAR (AE) - (A Merhi): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. Passing the 800 metres lay out and bumped another runner, then commenced to weaken. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, the rider advised that ARES DE GION (FR) never travelled and did not appreciate the kickback. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. JAP ALMAHFUZ (AE) - (R Ffrench): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. Near the 200 metres shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip, before being straightened by its rider. OSS (US) - (R Dawson): Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. SHARKH (FR) - (A de Vries): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. ARIM W'RSAN (AE) - (D O'Neill): On jumping hampered when bumped by another runner. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, the rider advised that ARIM W'RSAN (AE) did not travel throughout and stopped quickly when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. MAALY AL REEF (AE) - (J Rosales): Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 1400 metres eased when momentarily tightened for room between other runners. General: Apprentice G Sanchez (BF MUHTASHAM (SI)) was fined AED 2000, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 20 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was G Sanchez’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Further, G Sanchez was fined AED 3000 under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(b) for using his whip in an improper manner, in that on pulling up after the race he struck his mount aggressively on two occasions when it was unreasonable to do so. Stewards further advised Apprentice Sanchez that if similar circumstances were to occur again, Stewards would consider withdrawing his licence. Jockey S Paiva (IDRIS DES ARNETS (FR)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(a) for using the whip to excess, in that he used it on 14 occasions. Stewards took into account that this was S Paiva’s first breach of this Rule for the season.

Correct weight was delayed due to an objection being lodged by Jockey A Al Balushi (GHAZWAN AL KHALEDIAH (SA))(2nd Place) against RAWAA (FR)(R Dawson)(Winner), alleging interference during the entire race. After viewing the video footage and taking evidence from both riders and respective Trainers, it was established that during the middle stages both horses shifted outwards on the track. Taking into account the margin at the finish line of 1.25 lengths, the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared. MH RAHAL (AE) - (T O'Shea): Began awkwardly and lost ground. RAWAA (FR) - (R Dawson): Began awkwardly. MUMAYAZA (AE) - (R Mullen): Began awkwardly. General: Jockey A Al Balushi (GHAZWAN AL KHALEDIAH (SA)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA Rule 78(ii) for lodging what the Stewards deemed to be frivolous objection.
