The start of the race was delayed by approximately 4 minutes due to the late withdrawal of MOUNT MARCY (IRE), CITY KING (GB) and CLASSIC CITY (USA). ABSHREK (GB) - (A Al Balushi): Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. ANBAR (USA) - (S Hitchcott): Commenced awkwardly. FAST START (GB) - (X Ziani): On return to scale the rider reported that the gelding hung left throughout. IBRA ATTACK (USA) - (A de Vries): Commenced awkwardly. Approaching the 50 metres shifted outwards abruptly and unbalanced its rider. MOUNT MARCY (IRE) - (K Al Balushi): After being loaded into the barrier, became extremely fractious, reared and dislodged its rider. Acting on this advice from the Starter, Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the horse at 2:17pm. Trainer Mr. K Al Neyadi was advised that prior to entering the horse to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. BLACK MARK (USA) - (R Mullen): On jumping was steadied when tightened for room between runners. On return to scale the rider advised that the colt failed to stay the distance of the race. CITY KING (GB) - (M Ghorli): After being loaded into the barrier, became extremely fractious. As a result, underwent a veterinary examination and was deemed unsuitable to race. Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the gelding at 2:18pm. Trainer Mr. O Refai was advised that prior to entering the gelding to race again, it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hind-leg and have back pain. Further, Mr. Refai was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for CITY KING (GB). CLASSIC CITY (USA) - (T O'Shea): After being loaded into the barrier, because extremely fractious. AS a result, underwent a veterinary examination and was deemed unsuitable to race. Stewards ordered the late withdrawal of the gelding at 2:18pm. Trainer Mr. B Seemar was advised that prior to entering gelding to race again, it must complete two satisfactory stalls tests, due to its poor history of barrier manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a small wound outside its left front-leg and to have a cut in its mouth. Trainer Mr. B Seemar was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for CLASSIC CITY (USA). BRANWELL (IRE) - (A Fresu): Slow to begin. General: Trainer Mr. S bin Ghadayer (MADE IN DUBAI (USA)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 31(i)(e) for failing to notify the ERA that MADE IN DUBAI (USA) had been gelded.
