The start of the race was delayed by approximately 11 minutes due to AF ALSAREM (AE) being re-shod and AF QADEH (AE) undergoing a veterinary examination. AF ALMOHEEB (AE) - (M Rodrigues): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. AF ALSAREM (AE) - (T O'Shea): Shifted its right fore-plate on the way to the start and was re-shod behind the barrier. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, the rider advised that AF ALSAREM (AE) was agitated before the race and in his opinion, this may have affected its performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. AF ATAB (AE) - (M Holmberg): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. AF MUSHAREK (AE) - (A Fresu): Commenced awkwardly, tightened for room between runners and lost ground. AF NAFER (AE) - (Q Al Busaidi): Lay inwards during the middle stages. AF NAFITH (AE) - (A Paiva): On jumping was tightened for room between runners and lost ground. AF QADEH (AE) - (R Dawson): On arrival at the barrier, underwent a veterinary examination after having blood in its mouth and was passed suitable to race. General: Jockey A de Vries (THAMMIN (GB)) was reprimanded under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(iii) for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the stewards. In considering the breach, Stewards took into account that his actions did not result in a change to the finishing order of the race.
