JASSAR (USA) - (P Dobbs): Commenced awkwardly and bumped another runner. Lay outwards rounding the turn. KETIN (USA) - (O Chavez): Lay out rounding the turn, taking another rider wider on the track. MULHIM (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. FARWAH (IRE) - (B Pinheiro): Marginally slow to begin. Rounding the turn was taken wider by another runner. Held up for a clear run for a short distance near the 700 metres. General: Jockey J Van Overmeire (MARGHAM (USA)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(vii) for using his whip in consecutive strides. In assessing the penalty, Stewards took into account that this was J Van Overmeire’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Stewards questioned Jockey J Van Overmeire regarding his vigor over the concluding stages. On return to scale the rider advised that the gelding felt amiss near the 200 metres and for this reason he eased SYRTIS (GB) down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be midly lame in the right fore-leg, however, an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH that may have affected the performance of SYRTIS (GB). VIOLENT JUSTICE (USA) - (P Dobbs): When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider advised that VIOLENT JUSTICE (USA) did not appreciate the kickback throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however, an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of mucus that may have affected the performance of VIOLENT JUSTICE (USA). IDES OF AUGUST (USA) - (Q Al Busaidi): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have multiple cuts inside the left hind-leg.
