RAJEH (FR) - (A Fresu): When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the horse, the rider advised that RAJEH (FR) travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to respond to his riding. He added that the horse struggled to carry the additional weight due to the penalty incurred for winning a Group 1 race since January 1, 2022. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ALAJAB (GB) - (D O'Neill): Slow to begin. DERYAN (FR) - (P Dobbs): When questioned regarding his riding in the straight, Jockey P Dobbs advised that he was instructed to settle just behind the leader and allow the horse to travel as far into the race as possible, as DERYAN (FR) only has a short sprint when placed under pressure. P Dobbs advised that when placed under pressure approaching the 200 metres, DERYAN (FR) failed to accelerate and was unable to improve its position. HAROON (GB) - (J Van Overmeire): Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. NADELSHIBA (FR) - (A de Vries): On return to scale, the rider advised that the horse stopped quickly when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. OSS (US) - (S Hitchcott): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have blood in its mouth after having a small cut to its upper lip and had over-reached on its right fore-pastern. RB YAS SIR (US) - (R Mullen): Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. SATTAM MUSCAT (OM) - (A Al Balushi): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. SHABIH ALREEH (GB) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin and brushed another runner. SNAN (FR) - (P Cosgrave): Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages. General: Jockey J Van Overmeire (HAROON (GB)) was reprimanded, under the provisions of ERA Rule 69B(c)(ii) for using the whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Stewards took into account that this was J Van Overmeire’s first breach of this Rule for the season. Trainer Mr. A Al Meharibi (KERLESS DEL ROC (FR)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 51(vii) for the late equipment change to race the horse with a shadow roll.
