MAPUTO (IRE) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin and had to be checked. PERSIAN EMPIRE (IRE) - (R Scott): Commenced awkwardly. TORRKEE (FR) - (J Van Overmeire): On jumping was bumped on the hind-quarters by another runner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH, which may have affected its performance. Trainer Mr. M Costa was advised that prior to the gelding entering to race again he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness for TORRKEE (FR). AL HAJAJ (IRE) - (R Dawson): Slow to begin and was then tightened for room between runners, losing ground. ALMUTAWAKEL (GB) - (F Jara): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. LEGEND OF CANNES (USA) - (P Cosgrave): Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1300 metres had to be restrained when tightened for room, shifted out and bumped heavily with another runner. RUNAHOLIC (IRE) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. SMART SYSTEM (USA) - (O Chavez): Commenced awkwardly, stumbled shortly after the start and unbalancing its rider. Race wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have a large over-reach wound on its right fore-leg. SOFALGIN (USA) - (S Paiva): Slow to begin. EMIRATES VOICE (GB) - (J da Silva): Bumped on jumping. General: Jockey R Scott (PERSIAN EMPIRE (IRE)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 1300 metres he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of LEGEND OF CANNES (USA)(P Cosgrave), which had to be restrained when tightened for room and shift outwards, bumping heavily with CHEF DE PARTIE (GB)(R Mullen). R Scott had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race meetings (Abu Dhabi 19 January 2023, Meydan 20 January 2023 and Al Ain 21 January 2023). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account R Scott’s good careless riding record, pleaded guilty and assessed the carelessness to be in the low-range.

CELTIC VOYAGER (SAF) - (R Ffrench): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. CAIRN ISLAND (IRE) - (P Dobbs): On jumping was bumped between runners. MADKHAL (USA) - (A de Vries): On jumping was bumped between runners. MCMANAMAN (IRE) - (S Hitchcott): Commenced awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. BAWAASIL (GB) - (D O'Neill): Commenced awkwardly and shifted outwards. AYAAD (USA) - (B Pinheiro): Bumped on jumping. LEADING SPIRIT (IRE) - (P Cosgrave): Hung right throughout. Over the concluding stages, the rider was unable to ride out the gelding in his normal manner, due to the racing manners of LEADING SPIRIT (IRE). RAYIG (GB) - (T O'Shea): Slow to begin. Passing the 300 metres had to be restrained when tightened for room. Had difficulty obtaining a clear passing the 200 metres. HARVEST GOLD (IRE) - (O Chavez): On jumping was bumped on the hind-quarter by another runner. Had difficulty obtaining a clear run from the 300 metres until passing the 200 metres. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for RAYIG (GB)(T O'Shea) having to be restrained passing the 300 metres. From the evidence and available footage, it was established that BAWAASIL (GB)(D O'Neill) shifted inwards marginally when avoiding the weakening AYAAD (USA)(B Pinheiro) and as a result crowded the running of RAYIG (GB), which had to be restrained. Stewards considered the factors that took place and reported the matter as a racing incident. Stewards inquired into the reason for AYAAD (USA)(B Pinheiro) having to be restrained approaching the 200 metres. From the evidence and available footage it was established that HARVEST GOLD (IRE)(A Chaves), which had been held up for a clear run was attempting to improve to the outside of LEADING SPIRIT (IRE)(P Cosgrave), which was hanging right and as a result HAVEST GOLD (IRE) was taken outwards and tightened the running of AYAAD (USA), which had to be restrained when weakening. Taking into account the racing manners of LEADING SPIRIT (IRE) and HAVEST GOLD (IRE) improving into a tight run, Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider, however advised P Cosgrave and A Chaves to exercise more care in a similar situation.

ALKAAMEL (GB) - (D O'Neill): When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, the rider advised that ALKAAMEL (GB) failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have atrial fibrillation. Trainer Mr. M Al Mheiri was notified that prior to the gelding entering to race again it must perform a satisfactory gallop in the presence of an ERA veterinary officer and lodge a veterinary report stating that ALKAAMEL (GB) is displaying a normal ECG after the gallop. The official gallop may only be performed fourteen (14) days after the event. ZAINHOM (USA) - (A Fresu): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Passing the 300 metres bumped another runner. TAMBORRADA (GB) - (R Dawson): Raced wide without cover for the majority. LUCIUS TIBERIUS (IRE) - (O Chavez): Slow to begin and lost ground.
