ALKARAAMA (USA) - (B Pinheiro): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Near the 1100 metres had to be restrained and lost ground, when tightened for room. EASTERN WORLD (IRE) - (R Dawson): Fractious in the barrier prior to the start, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. Shortly after the start shifted in and bumped another runner. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider advised that after becoming fractious in the barrier prior to the start EASTERN WORLD (IRE) became unsettled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg, however an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of mucus which may have affected the gelding’s performance. Trainer Mr. A bin Harmash was advised that prior to the gelding being permitted to enter in a race it must complete one satisfactory stalls test. FREEDOM FIGHTER (USA) - (T O'Shea): Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority. I'LL STAND TALLER (USA) - (W Buick): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. Near the 1100 metres had to be steadied and lost ground, when tightened for room. MUBAKKER (USA) - (D O'Neill): Marginally slow to begin and was tightened for room shortly after, losing ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, the rider advised that MUBAKKER (USA) was fractious in the barrier prior to the start and failed to respond to his riding throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. NATIONWIDE (IRE) - (A de Vries): Slow to begin. ON THE WARPATH (GB) - (A Fresu): On jumping was bumped by another runner. NEVER JUST A DREAM (IRE) - (G Malune): Shortly after the start was bumped by another runner. General: Jockey J da Silva (TUZ (USA)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 1100 metres he permitted his mount to shift outwards when insufficiently clear of ALKARAAMA (USA)(B Pinheiro), which had to be restrained and was taken outwards onto I'LL STAND TALLER (USA)(W Buick), that was tightened for room and had to be steadied. J da Silva had his license to ride in races suspended for three (3) race meetings (Meydan 12 February 2023, Abu Dhabi 16 February 2023 and Meydan 17 February 2023). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account J da Silva’s good careless riding record, guilty plea and assessed the carelessness to be in the low-range.

On straightening lay in under pressure. Over the final 100 metres had difficulty obtaining a clear run and as a result had to be steadied off the heels of another runner, approaching the winning post. KATOUCHA (FR) - (E Hardouin): Slow to begin. KENNELLA (FR) - (P Dobbs): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a small cut over its medial splint bone. LYRICAL POETRY (IRE) - (B Coen): Commenced awkwardly and shifted outwards. SAMEDI RIEN (IRE) - (V Janacek): Bumped on jumping. SOFT WHISPER (IRE) - (D Tudhope): Raced keen in the early stages.
