When questioned regarding the improved performance of the mare, Trainer Mr. Q Aboud advised that in his opinion the mare is better suited racing on the turf surface. MAIMOUN RS (AE) - (O Chavez): Commenced awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. MAWOUD AL BEDA'A (AE) - (J da Silva): Commenced awkwardly. SAFIR AL THANI (AE) - (F Jara): Slow to begin. AF AL SANAA (AE) - (A Al Balushi): Approaching the winning post had to be steadied when tightened for room. AF YENOMES (AE) - (T O'Shea): Lost its right fore-plate during the race. ES FATTAN (AE) - (G Malune): On jumping was brushed by another runner. LAHOOB (AE) - (Q Al Busaidi): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the left fore-leg. General: Trainer Mr. E Oertel (AF SUMOUD (AE)) was fined AED 500 under the provisions of ERA Rule 51(vii) for the late equipment change to race the horse without blinkers.

On return to scale the rider reported that the gelding hung left over the concluding stages. FAKHR (FR) - (R Dawson): On jumping shifted out and bumped another runner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities however, an endoscopic examination revealed a degree of EIPH and mucus that may have affected the performance of FAKHR (FR). AF HERAQLE (AE) - (B Pinheiro): On jumping shifted in and bumped another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be mildly lame in the right fore-leg. JALAL AL REEF (AE) - (G Malune): Commenced awkwardly, was bumped by another runner and lost ground.

AF LAYTH (AE) - (D O'Neill): From the 300 metres bumped another runner on several occasions. ALAJAB (GB) - (R Dawson): From the 300 metres, attempted to shift outwards and as a result bumped another runner on several occasions, before eventually being steadied approaching the winning post. EGHEL DE PINE (IT) - (Saif Al Balushi): Shortly after the start brushed another runner. Near the 900 metres had to be steadied off the heels of another runner. SALAF (FR) - (R Ffrench): Commenced awkwardly. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for ALAJAB (GB)(R Dawson) and AF LAYTH (AE)(D O’Neill) bumping on several occasion in the straight. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 300 metres ALAJAB (GB) was trying to shift out around AF GHAYYAR (AE)(T O’Shea) and in doing so bumped AF LAYTH (AE). As a result, both horses AF LAYTH (AE) and ALAJAB (GB) lay on each other and bumped on a number occasions, before ALAJAB (GB) eventually weakened and had to be steadied. As Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider, it was reported as a racing incident and both riders were advised to exercise more care in a similar situation.
