Correct weight was delayed as Stewards viewed the available video footage in determining whether or not to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of WAKEEL W'RSAN (AE)(2nd Place) against TAAJER (AE)(Winner) with an incident that occurred near the 200 metres. As Stewards were not comfortably satisfied, it was decided not to proceed with the objection, and therefore correct weight was declared. MAIMOON (AE) - (R Ffrench): After arriving at the barrier it was established that the gelding had lost its right hind-plate and as a result underwent a veterinary examination, being passed suitable to race without its shoe. Over-raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the right hind-leg. NAWART BAYNOUNAH (AE) - (O Chavez): Hung left in the straight. DAAD (AE) - (J Rosales): Commenced awkwardly, was bumped by another runner and lost ground. ASSLAN AL REEF (AE) - (A M Al Balushi): Rounding the home turn shifted in and bumped another runner. WAKEEL W'RSAN (AE) - (S Hitchcott): Slow to begin. Was held up rounding the home turn until passing the 300 metres. Approaching the 200 metres had to be restrained when tightened for room. Jockey R Mullen (TAAJER (AE)) pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear of WAKEEL W'RSAN (AE)(S Hitchcott), which had to be restrained when tightened for room. Further, Jockey R Mullen pled guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of ERA Rule 69(i), in that approaching the winning post he permitted his mount to shift outwards when insufficiently clear of MAHMOUDA (AE)(F Jara), which had to be restrained when tightened for room. R Mullen had his license to ride in races suspended for the first three (3) race meetings for each charge and under the provisions of ERA Rule 3A(ii), Stewards ordered that the penalty shall be served concurrently. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account R Mullen’s good careless riding record, guilty plea and assessed the carelessness to be in the low-range. The suspension will be for the first three (3) race meetings of the 2023-24 UAE racing season.
